Boston!!!
Back to the blahg. I’m out of town and you know what that means.... I want to write all about it!! Turns out I’ve actually been to Boston before....
When I say that you probably picture the beautiful seaside town in Massachusetts. So did I. About a year ago I was informed the original Boston is in Ireland. (I was also informed by the same person that I’ve been pronouncing my own name wrong my whole life)
I truly loved Ireland- but that Boston ain’t got nothin’ on this Boston!
*disclaimer* I’m only comparing the small town in Ireland to the city in Massachusetts. In no way am I saying Boston Mass is better than Ireland. I would never say that. I fell in love with Ireland just like I’m falling in love with Boston

And this falling in Love business is
tangent. I’m sorry. Where was I?
Ah yes. I’m in Boston.
Ah yes. I’m in Boston.
I flew in yesterday. Not much happens on these travel days- but I did watch GIFTED on the plane and I cried at the end.
I think it made the people I was sitting next-to feel uncomfortable that I was silently sobbing. #whoops
it’s a great movie though.
Boston. The first thing I saw when I walked off the plane and into the airport was a Wendy’s. Temptation. I had promised myself I would only buy traditional Bostonian food on this trip because I have a loooong list of places to try. So I refrained from that crispy chicken goodness. I did buy juice though. Naked brand. I really wanted to make a joke about getting naked in Boston but I’ll refrain from that too #doesthatcountasrefraining? #sorrymom :)

I downloaded this awesome app... What app you ask? This app that lets you record videos while the music on your phone plays. I love it because many times the music adds so much more to the moments I experience.
Sometimes the the words of a song fit the situation exactly. For example- today on the subway this song came on:

I thought it was real funny. Maybe you had to be there....
Okay okay. I’m focused
This morning I took the bus and the subway to dowtown (cue Macklemore)
I’m not going to use space bragging about my mad public transportation skills because I did that on a previous trips’ blog 😂👊🏼
Breakfast- un due go- (cafe) bacon egg and cheese bagel. And the bathroom had a combination lock
I still got in
#OnlyClassyForThisLassie
#justmadethatup
yikes I'm getting weirder. That probably means it’s time for bed.

Wednesday Oct 18. Day 1 in Boston. I probably should’ve mentioned that at the top. (You’re getting sloppy ol’ girl) (yes I did just talk to myself in parenthesis)
After breakfast I took to the streets. To walk on them. I used them to get to the parks. 🌳🌿🐤
Notice the absence of fall leaf emojis? It’s because most of the trees are still green. Alas. Boston is still beautiful. Here’s some picture proof:

Those pictures are from Boston Common and Boston Public Park. The region up behind the park is Beacon Hill. The streets were filled with gorgeous brick buildings. You want to see?!
So after walking through the parks and wandering the streets of Beacon Hill I went to the Nichols House Museum. It was the home of the Nichols family (upper middle class) turned museum in the 60’s when Rose Standish Nichols died. I was the only one there so I got my own private tour. Just me, the tour guide, and the collections intern. You might think 🤔 ‘that’s an interesting choice... why m’dear would you choose to go to such a museum?’
’because’ I would quietly answer ‘I love architecture and design dear Watson’
*let’s be real I probably wouldn’t quietly answer. I might sing my answer though.
My love for architecture is apparent in the amount of pictures I have of roofs and windows and gardens and furniture from all of my previous trips. An abundant load. Here’s a sweet sweet morsel:

After the tour I went down to the harbor to try what a few people have named ‘the best clam chowder in Boston’
Boston Sail Loft- I got a cup of clam chowder which was pretty dang delish.

Christopher Columbus Park was nearby and so was the harbor so I checked those out too
After the clam chowder I headed to Back Bay to check out the library (get it? ‘Check out’ ;)
I was amazed by the scope and again, design of the library. It was/is amazing! I mean Belle’s library has def got style but this one is more useful for the modern age. I took some videos of a few of the floors/rooms I saw. They’re not the most exciting videos- you don’t have to watch them.
(I can’t make you do anything- I’m quite powerless in this forum. Vulnerable you might say...)

After gawking at the size and volume of the collections at the library I went across the street to Trinity Church.
I’ve seen a few churches and cathedrals in my travels- this one was pretty impressive too. It is considered “one of the ten most significant buildings in the country by a national poll of architects”
At least that’s what it said in their pamphlet :)
I used Mormon music for an Episcopalian church. And if you knew me in college/Cedar City you know I have a special place in my heart for Episcopalians ❤️💙💜💛

Next I went to a store called Bodega. It’s this high-end shoe shop in Boston that has a dingy store front and you go in the back to find the classy store. I really wanted to see it. So I did :) #idowhatiwant #usually #unlessitsdangerousoriamtooscared
I started taking a video when I was outside the store. As I walked in and headed to the secret garden (it’s not a garden) of fashionable shoes I was stopped- no videos allowed. So I have a video but I won’t post it online. It was pretty nifty though. Very small selection but I felt VIP. Part of a secret club.

For my first big deal meal I had heard tell of a lobster pot pie. Whispers. Shadows. A article of the top 25 places to eat in Boston. So for dinner I headed north to try some New England lobster @ Stephanie’s on Newbury-
it turned out the lobster pot pie was just a summer menu thing- alas. I settled for crab cakes covered in a delicate pretzel crust. I’m not a huge fan of sea food so I’ve been pretty proud of myself thus far. These crab cakes were good. And that house mustard 🏡 was divine

After dinner I took the train to White Mountain Creamery. It was like totally 40 minutes out and at the end of the subway line by Boston College. But I had been told it was a must-try so I got pumpkin ice cream 🍨. As I was walking back to the train I came across a fall window display- How fortuitous. A perfect Instagram moment. Those don’t FALL into my lap every day. Get it? Fall?
I also took took a selfie to capture my enjoyment on the ride home :)
