boston day 4
Hey adventure-lovers! I feel like that’s safe to say because everyone loves adventure right?
I’ve been doing a lot of introspection today. Writing in my journal always helps that process. But I’ll try and keep it light 💡 because it’s not as entertaining to read my life-questions and reflections.
I still have so much more to see in Boston! My ability to cram all-the-things-I-want-to-do in a day is quickly diminishing as my feet grow weary. Boy have I got my exercise in though!

Today’s main event was a visit to the JFK library and museum. I loved it (surprise:). I thought it would be busier on a Saturday but it was nearly empty.
One of my most favorite things in this world is an empty museum (empty of people not of things)
I get really excited when there’s nobody around a public place.

Empty museums, gardens, streets, parks etc. Love them. I get giddy.
The museum was really well organized. The designer was actually I.M. Pei who I recently learned all about when I took a class on China this last summer so it was pretty cool to recognize his name.
The museum starts with a 20 minute video about Kennedy’s life before the presidency and after you exit the theater you walk into a room with all this campaign paraphernalia as it talks about his campaign in 1960. There’s a room set up like a recording studio with two podiums meant to look like the Kennedy v Nixon tv debates! Then when you get to the years of his presidency the halls are designed like you’re walking through the halls of your the White House! There’s the Oval Office which has artifacts Kennedy had in his presidential office... I may be over-reacting but it was so cool! Here are some highlights:

I also love that that kid is engrossed in learning history! 💕
You finish the tour in this room with fantastic views of the harbor. I went outside afterwards for the Harborwalk. Kennedy was a boat guy so it was a fitting spot for his museum.
As I was waiting for the bus a girl approached me and asked me if I would complete a survey for $15. Um yes please! 🤑
Abraham was not the best-looking president but he was charming like good ol’ JFK
I had this moment on the bus... on the outside I must have looked stoic and serene. A perfect bus-riding citizen.
In my ear the music was building, the beat swelling and I heard DJ Snake 🐍 yell “TURN DOWN FOR WHAT?!”
Valid question DJ. I don’t think he’s referring to a bedtime turndown service. But now that I think about the meaning behind the lyrics (believe me I never thought I’d be analyzing the meaning of this song either-but here we are) is deeper than I once thought. 💭
I was being a perfect bus riding citizen for what? For what DJ Snake? For society’s sake? For my own sake? He has a good point (even though those few words pretty much sums up the song)... who am I dialing it down for?
Sometimes you gotta let loose and dance your heart out (figuratively of course). And that song has a particular way of doing that with me. (I’m looking at you cousin’s-wedding-last-year #goodtimes).
It’s one of the ultimate dance crazy songs. I say one of because ultimatums are dangerous. Jason Bourne proved that #istilllovejeremyrennerbest #youcantchangemymind

How about less hashtag-existential-music talk and more food talk? Rhetorical question #idowhatiwant #alsoicantguessyourreadingpreferences
For lunch I headed to the North End which is the more Italian section of Boston. For PASTA.
There’s nothin that makes my heart beat fasta
than an overflowing bowl of homemade pasta 🍝
I went to Al Dente and had the pumpkin ravioli :) that’s brown butter sauce ladies and gents

The rest of the day I wandered back to the market areas. (North market, Quincy market, and Faneuil Hall)
It was crowded so I did some people watching. Went to Ghirardelli’s for a cone of ice cream and it did not disappoint! I watched some street performers- there was an official A’Capella competition going on in front of Quincy Hall that was fun to watch- they said there are more groups performing tomorrow so maybe I’ll head back that way again?

Today I suppose was a ‘shoe picture’ 👠👡👢kind-of-day. I guess my older brother has had a big impact on my life ;)
I just realized I must’ve had ice cream for dinner... #worthit
I have 2 more days here and I have many more things to do! Wish me luck- and it still counts if it’s retroactively wishing 💫
