New York DAy 5
Truthfully it was like half a day, but it warrants its own page :)
I was able to convince Maren and Haley to check out Coney Island today. I thought it would be cool.... and it was! I loved it! The subway ride is like 50 minutes away from the city center but it was worth it. Coney Island isn't really an island, it's just an area in Brooklyn with carnival-style rides and a few roller coasters. There are a lot of hot-dog/funnel cake/ice cream bar vendors and you can walk along the boardwalk and go up to the pier.

When we got there it felt a little bit creepy because it was chilly and the park was empty. I mean there were workers there running the rides, but we had the whole park completely to ourselves. I loved that.
The first ride we went on the ride operator was like really happy that we choose her ride. As she was checking all of the seats she was laughing and teasing the people at the next ride over that she had got the only customers. So I decided we should go to the next ride over after that so they didn't feel so bad :)
Eventually more people came to the park, but most of the rides... actually all of the rides we went on we were the only people on the ride. Which was cool. Tres chic.
They had a teacup ride just like at Disneyland- and I half jokingly said Coney Island was cooler than Disneyland (I mean there were no lines at Coney Island so..... I'm thinking there's some validity to that statement) but it earned me a stink-eye from both Haley and Maren who are lovers of Disneyland. People have tried to convince me to try Disneyland again and I'm willing to try, but my skeptical nature makes me think that Disneyland won't be more magical than the beat up ghetto rides of Coney Island :)
We bought a card that had 140 tickets on it and we ended up having 3 tickets left- which was only enough for one person to do a low-intensity ride. So since Haley had skipped the first one ride, we had her do the last one by herself :)
We spent a few hours there- then grabbed a hotdog and a funnel cake and headed for the hills. Actually for the hotel.
I had planned to navigate public transportation to get to the Newark airport- but I was overruled and we took a LYFT. I'm not complaining, it was a pretty plush ride :)
Our flight home was a straight shot with no lay-overs.
All in all the trip was so fun! It was a little exhausting but worth it. I'm a fan of New York!
